MY RUIN: Another New Song Clip Posted Online

Los Angeles-based hard rock band MY RUIN has posted another new song clip, entitled "Through the Wound", on its MySpace page. The track comes off the group's recently completed new album, due later in the year.

Commented vocalist Tarrie B.: "'Through the Wound' began as one song and quickly became another. It took on a new meaning for me (as did a few of the songs) after [Tarrie's recent car] accident once I went into the studio and began to lay my tracks down. As most of you know, recording this album was only six weeks into my recovery and I was still right in the middle of my healing and dealing with a good amount of pain as well as a brace on my arm at the time.

"When I heard the music again within the setting of the studio having just gone through what I did, it felt different to me. I felt different. The music alone had a new emotion to it and what I had previously written seemed to not fit within the landscape of the guitars, drums and bass so I decided to rewrite a few words. It happened very fast and just sort of flowed from me. 20 minutes later I had rewritten the whole song.

"'Through the Wound' is a personal favorite for all of us on the new album. Each for our own reason I think. Recording this song was one of my best memories of being in the studio. It has a unique feel to it that sets it apart from everything else we have recorded in my opinion. When we performed it for the first time at my birthday show in January it felt like one of the most powerful moments I have ever experienced live. It was a release and it allowed me to be brave on the stage... in many ways.

"Although we are posting a short clip and only a portion of the song, as a whole there is a lot going on within its walls. For me, it represents death and being on the other side. The not knowing and the fear. It also represents LIFE. It is a song of resurrection and rebirth."

As previously reported, MY RUIN has scheduled a show with (HED)PE on March 23 at The Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, California.

On the direction of the new album, MY RUIN guitarist Mick Murphy previously said, "We're not reinventing our sound, we're just perfecting it. Our new songs are heavier, brighter and more intense. This album was very focused and well thought out, even though we went through so much chaos with [MY RUIN frontwoman Tairrie B's recent car] accident; it was a pleasure to record. The dichotomy of life and death is very present throughout. Not only did I lose my father this past year but I nearly lost Tairrie, my girl of seven years. We went through some very intense moments together and she is the throat and heart of MY RUIN. Without her, there is no band."

In late September, the night before the band was set to enter the studio to begin recording its new CD, Tairrie was seriously injured and nearly lost her arm in a car accident. After four surgeries, including a skin graft, Miss B decided to record her vocals only weeks into her recovery with her voice stronger than ever and is looking forward to her first show back. "I'm still alive and very thankful to still be able to perform. When your own mortality is questioned you learn to appreciate the beauty of life and although I am still healing, I thought it would be a good idea to get back on stage as soon as possible to let myself as well as the friends and fans of our band know I am okay and can still rock just as hard, if not harder than before," said Tairrie.

"Mick and I have spent much of the past year and a half on the road and getting to know Chris (Lisee; bassist) and Matt (Lechevalier; drummer) and after a successful summer tour of the U.K. and France, we all felt it was time to write a new album and record together so we could take things to the next level with this lineup. My accident happened the night before we were slated to begin recordings and obviously through us all for a loop."

Having recently finished mixing the new album with Duane Burda, MY RUIN has decided to keep the CD title under wraps for the moment until a release date is set. The band debuted seven new songs at its January 19 show at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California and filmed the event to be the final segment on their DVD, "Spilling Open", which they will be releasing this year. "We had to put editing on hold for a minute due to the accident and recording but this show will be the perfect way to end our last album 'The Brutal Language' and a great way to introduce our next one," said Mick.
